Cut Cable I, 2024,
Acrylic on canvas,
33 x 33 x 2 cm. | 13 x 13 x 0.8 in.

This series is a visual and conceptual exploration of the relationship between underwater communication cables and the sea that envelops them.  In her introductory catalogue’s text for her solo exhibition `Connected with the Sea and Its History´ at Casa del Cable in May 2024, Silvia Lerín explains that her creative process is deeply influenced by everyday inspirations. In this case, it was the poetic essence of the place itself that sparked the concept of this series. The Casa del Cable in Jávea, Alicante—historically linked by a submarine cable to a counterpart on the island of Ibiza—became the catalyst for a series conceived specifically for this space.
