The origin of the Irregulars II series dates back to 2006 with my Removable Murals, which arose from a need to break away from the orthogonality of the canvas and move toward a more object-like language. This search led to the creation of the Irregulars I series in 2009, where the traditional canvas was replaced by an irregular wooden support, and the canvas itself became an acrylic-painted collage laid onto the painted wooden surface.
In 2011—both as a continuation and in parallel—I began the Irregulars II series. In this body of work, I returned to the canvas and its orthogonal structure, but began incorporating acrylic-painted wooden forms onto the surface, visually disrupting and expanding the formal boundaries of the canvas.
From 2012 onwards, I developed this approach further: once again assembling acrylic-painted wooden forms on the canvas, but now integrating pictorial compositions that had appeared in earlier stages of my practice—fissures, washes, dragged brushstrokes, incised lines, and other gestural marks.
